Well, to date I have managed 3 full songs that will require only minor tweaking (i.e., rerecording vocals where I am flat/sharp/shit, etc…). Also, I have overconfidently decided on a cover, which I am foolishly announcing before I actually try and record it. I intend to do ‘Grace Under Pressure’ by Elbow. I think I can manage the voice, but what I can’t manage is the awesome drum beat. In fact, I am not even sure I am going to get drums onto this album yet, so it may sound shit. I guess the people can be the judge.
For this album I have been required to develop a new skill, singing. As I have never really attempted to sing properly before (except during my brief dabble into acting where I was a pirate in ‘The Pirates of Penzance’) I have inadvertently ripped off my musical comrade, Biggles Koskov Koskov. When I say ripped off, what I really mean is poorly imitated… Anyway, I hope he doesn’t take offence, but sees it as an homage to his awesome talent.
Anyway, I have roughly mixed down one song, built a myspace page and whacked it on there for people’s aural pleasure. See; http://www.myspace.com/thedirtylungssolo
The song is called ‘Can’t be ‘scapin’ you’. It is lyrically shallow and based on a Louis L’Amour novel. For those who are not familiar with Mr, L’Amour, he writes the Mills and Boon equivalent of western novels. I hope you get my drift, and that louis L’Amour fans don’t take offence.
Note: I am aware of the poor vocals… they will be addressed in due course.
Fin…
